2015 7th BJIMC Competition - Cello & Violin

The 7th Beijing International Music Competition (BJIMC)-Violin & Cello will be held in Beijing in 2015. The cello competition runs from September 8 to September 18, with the violin competition following between October 21 and November 1. We expect to meet young musicians from different countries all over the world, gathering for a friendly exchange of performing skills and experiences. At the same time,  master classes and the art exhibition will be held during the competition. The Competition will all take place at Beijing Concert Hall. All the finalists and the prizewinners will perform with a symphony orchestra. It will be a significant moment for music in China.

An international jury of 22 world-famous artists from 12 different countries are invited. Sir. Peter Jonas chairs this year’s violin competition jury, which includes Pierre Amoya, Christoph Dammann, Yuzuko Horigome, Bin Huang, Nam-Yun Kim, Alexander Markov, Bartek Nizioł, Elmar Oliveira, Stefano Valanzuolo. Mr. Raimund Trenkler heads the cello competition jury, which includes Wolfgang Böttcher, Colin Carr, Young-Chang Cho, Giovanni Gnocchi, Walter Grimmer, Robert Martin, Arto Noras, Roland Pidoux and Mingqing Yu. 3 more judges would be confirmed.Thus, there are 11 jurors in each judging panel.


The BJIMC is the most distinguished annual musical happening in Beijing. It was founded in 2006, and is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.It is further an official recommended arts event by the Ministry of culture of China and the only classical music competition of multiple disciplines in China and currently consists of 6 categories, including violin, cello, opera, flute, clarinet and string quartet. A total of 108 world-renowned musicians have been invited as judges and more than 800 young musicians from 55 different countries have participated in the previous 6 BJIMC competitions. The top prizewinners have made a spectacular start to their careers by going on tour to concert halls across the country and abroad.
