Mr. YE Xiaogang

Regarded as one of the most leading and influential composers in China. Vice Chair-man of Chinese Musicians' Association, Professor, director of composition department of Central Conservatory of Music, composer in residence of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and board memeber of Chinese Music Copyright Association, Jury Member of China Scholarship Council, National member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Born in a musical family, Ye learned piano from his father at the age of four, he was enrolled into Central Conservatory of Music and studied composition with Prof. Du Mingxin. Ye studied in Prof. Alexander Goehr's class in 1980, and he recieved a full scholarship from the Eastman School of Music in U.S. in 1987 to further his education in composition with Dr. Samuel Adler, Dr. Joseph Schwanter and Prof. Louis Andriessen. Since 1983, Ye recieved numerous national and international awards, commissions, and has participated in many international artistic activities, among these included 5 Dance Dramas; Chamber Music; Orchestra works. These works were premiered in Canada, U.S.A., Japan, New Zealand, Britain, Finland, Norway, Germany, Switzerland and Taiwan, Hong Kong regions respectively.
Among his awards included first prize in Alexander Tcherepnin Composition Competition of U.S.A., Louis Lane Prize and Howard Hanson Prize in Eastman School of U.S.A., Heritage Prize for Excellence in Creative Activity in Music from the LI Foundation of San Francisco, U.S.A., Best Movie Music Award of Shanghai, National Best Score for Film, National Golden Bell Award for Symphony and Chamber Music, Commission grant from the Council of Pennysylvania State of America and the Great Capital Life Fund Committee, Five-One-Project Award by Publicity Department of China Central Committee and Wenhua Award by China Ministry of Culture.
Since 1995, his music published by Schott Musik International, GmbH in Germany.
